The Reading-based real estate finance division of Secure Trust Bank is once again preparing for its annual fundraiser, the Real Estate Finance (REF) Ramble, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
This year's plans follow the success of last year's event, which saw the bank raise over £15,000 in support of the National Autistic Society. The bank is looking to emulate the success this year by raising a minimum of £10,000, this time for Cancer Research UK, the world's leading independent cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence, and information.
Through its charity pound-for-pound match funding scheme, Secure Trust Bank will match up to £400 of funds raised per participating member of staff. Donations from local professional partners will also be instrumental in achieving the target.
The fundraiser involves participants taking on a 20-mile walk along the Thames, through Oxfordshire and Berkshire on Friday 20 September. The walk will start in Goring at 9am, heading to the bank's head office in Abbey Gardens, Reading, for lunch at 12:30pm, before finishing in Henley-on-Thames at 4:30pm.
Mike Feasey, Relationship Director at STB Real Estate Finance and organiser of the event said: "Cancer Research UK is a charity close to the hearts of many members of the team, making it a fitting recipient for the funds we will raise at this year's REF Ramble. The incredible generosity of our contributors has enabled us to set such a high initial goal. It really showcases the community's commitment to a cause so important to us all."
