In Sunny Solihull
It has been an action packed week for Secure Trust Bank Group with charity activities taking place across the country. A team of 21 cyclists took part in this year's Tricycle event giving up their Sunday for charity. The group is on target to raise several thousand pounds for Solihull Mind, which is the chosen local charity for the Solihull head office.
The keen cyclists set off at 10am on Sunday 9 September in order to complete one of three pre-set circular routes through the Warwickshire countryside. The routes varied in length (15k, 50k and 100k) and difficulty so that colleagues were able to select the route which was right for their fitness level.
The event was supported by non-cycling colleagues who were on hand to ensure registration and regular refreshment stops were manned. The event ran smoothly despite one lost cyclist which we are pleased to say has now been found.
In support of the activities, there were two days annual leave up for grabs for colleagues who took part. The Group also offers a pound for pound matching scheme where the organisation matches every pound raised for charity, on an individual or group level, up to a maximum of £200 per person per annum. The STBG Tricycle raised an impressive £9,500 and climbing, this is including pound for pound matching.
Meanwhile in Manchester
A group of colleagues from Commercial Finance took to the hills for the gruelling Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge which is a 24 mile trek consisting of 'a lot of climbing' in aid of Dementia UK.
Despite all of the achy legs and blisters, everything went smoothly and the team was motivated to raise as much for a very worthy cause. Risk Director for Commercial Finance, David James, was surprised by the amount they were able to raise.
"We originally set the JustGiving page to a target of £500, but we very quickly increased this to £1000, then £1500. We have currently reached a fantastic £2,600.00 but this amount is still rising and the page remains open. This is before Gift Aid and the wonderful STBG pound for pound matching, which I understand will be an additional £1,600.
"We are very pleased with our efforts. The gruelling walk was well worth it."
The good news is all employees survived and the team completed the walk in under 9.5 hrs! Luckily the weather was kind to the chaps on the day and the team was able to enjoy a well-deserved pint and meal afterwards in a local Inn.
Coming Soon in Cardiff
